NEWS AND EVENTS
LENT 2025
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul, St. John Eudes Conference, spearheaded and collaborated with the other parish ministries during this year’s observance of Lent. Starting with the Bundle Sunday, April 6th, followed by distribution of Easter Dinner basket to our friends in need, April 12th, that ushered in to the Holy Week with Seder Meal on April 15, the members, with the leadership of Bob Kent, made the above activities a success. Thanks are in order for all the volunteers, donors, patrons, and the parish staff headed by our pastor Fr. Ethan, whose time, donations, and prayers had been undeniably outpouring. - Peter J.

Bundle Sunday, April 6th. Just as an ice cream truck brings forth excitement to expectant kids, the SVdP truck generates hope to our friends in need. On the right are the members of St. John Eudes Conference patiently await our donors of the day while trying to catch up with each other – fellowship the SVdP way.

“One bag of dinner rolls, three potatoes, and two cans of beans are in.” Janice, on the far right silently scans through the list to ensure that the box goes to the receiving family complete with things needed for the Easter dinner.

Before and After. Near-empty tables at the end of the day’s dinner box distribution signify success and equate to happy recipient families.

Service deluxe. Our friends in need get some pampering having their dinner box delivered right to their car. What could be more special than having ham for your Easter dinner?

Seder meal prep. Volunteer chefs for the day take their much-needed pause to stretch their sore wrists (and back!) as they pose for a photo op. (l-r) Estelita F, Bob K, Susan F, and Heather K.

Vicky K enthusiastically completes the table ready for a symbolic Seder meal. On the table are the Karpas (parsley dipped in saltwater), Charoset (sweet paste of fruits, nuts, and wine), and Matzah (unleavened bread), to name a few components of the traditional Passover meal.

Joni F (far right) confidently smiles for a photo op along with the other volunteers, Olivia K and Shirley F (l-r), after spearheading and ensuring that every detail of the symbolic Seder meal plate is not missed.

The Seder meal, April 15th. Fr. Mark (top most center) officiates and explains the connection of the Seder meal—a ritual meal of a Jewish Passover tradition—to the foundation of Jesus’ Last Supper that ushers into the Paschal Mystery—a Catholic sacred tradition.
