The Friends of the Poor® Walk/Run began as a national program with the purpose of providing local Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Conferences and Councils the additional funds to help support their special works projects.  Today, that philosophy continues, with Conferences and Councils using the funds from this event to help people living in poverty.

Our St. Vincent de Paul Conference at St. John Eudes may be small, but we are passionate about assisting others. But we need your help to do so!  

​

We are having our Friends of the Poor Walk on September 21st.  We are conducting it in conjunction with our brothers and sisters from the St Finbar Conference.  It will be held at:

Our goals for our 2024 Friends of the Poor Walk are:

​

• Have fifty (50) people walk with us on September 21

• Raise $10,000 to aid the poor and homeless
  in our community

​

We have raised $7,500* of our $10,000 goal!

We are three quartes of the way to our goal, please help us get to the finish line!

What does your donation allow us to do?

​

• Providing empathy and someone willing to listen
  to our Neighbors who many times feel invisible

• Rental and Utility Assistance for those struggling
  to make ends meet because of illness or loss of employment

• Car repair, DMV registration, and insurance payments for Neighbors living in their cars.  This
  protects our Neighbor's home (car) and you by keeping them insured

• Assistance in getting out of a debt cycle caused by predatory lending by Payday Loans and Credit Card Companies

• Providing furniture and appliances for homeless Neighbors that are moving off the street
  and have nothing

• Clothing to help our Neighbors look presentable for job interviews

• Cold water and Blessing Bags to the homeless on the street on super-hot days

• Monthly food drives to support our local food pantry

• Dinner Basket drives at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. Our efforts provided food to over 100+ families totaling over 500+ individuals
